Corporate & commercial disputes

Contract and company law work, mostly for businesses rather than individuals — and usually arranged a little differently from the rest of this website.

My practice in commercial litigation is primarily through solicitor instruction, for advocacy in court — because the demands of preliminary work, and documentary and witness preparation, make the traditional arrangement more effective. If your matter is heading for litigation, your solicitor is best placed to instruct me at the right moment.

However, I do have retainers with several groups of companies, to be available to advise on contractual problems as they arise. This saves the tedious process of Client Identification and Anti-Money Laundering checks for each new instruction — useful if your business needs a barrister on hand regularly, rather than for a single one-off matter.

What I do not do

I do not conduct small claims or debt recovery work. There are plenty of very efficient firms of solicitors with systems built for that.
